Mosque
The founder of the mosque was Sheikh Ramazan Efendi, son of Haci Osman, a descendant of the Prophet. This artefact is consecutively arranged as madrasah, mosque, and kastel. The mosque, which was added later, is named after Ahmet Çelebi who had built the madrasah. It is understood from the inscription that the mosque was built in 1672. The kastel in the garden is reached by 44 stairs, 12 of which are made of cut stone and 32 of which are carved into the rock. The mosque reflects unique examples of woodwork and there is a separate section for women to worship.
Ahmet Çelebi Mosque, built by Sheikh Ramazan Efendi in 1083 Hijri (1672) and later associated with Ahmet Çelebi, who constructed the madrasa; with its original structure featuring the madrasa, mosque, and castle lined up in succession, it is a rare work that impressively reflects Gaziantep's spiritual and architectural richness with its historical castle accessed by 44 steps and elegant wood craftsmanship.
