Mosque
Çınarlı Mosque holds a special place among the people of Antep, as it is one of the 'mücahit mosques.' The site of the mosque witnessed fierce battles. The mosque, believed to have been built before 1660, once had five majestic sycamore trees in its courtyard. These trees and the mosque were destroyed and burned in the war, losing its minaret, dome, and retaining wall. Today, Çınarlı Mosque may not have any architectural similarity to the old mosque.
Çınarlı Mosque, although its exact construction date is unknown, is estimated to date back to before 1660. Known as a 'mücahit mosque' that witnessed the French occupation and the Gaziantep Defense, its location on Atatürk Boulevard and its historical association with the five large sycamore trees that once stood in its courtyard make it an impressive structure of deep spiritual and historical significance for the people of Gaziantep.
