Dr. Mecit Barlas Children’s Library

Located within Gaziantep City Hospital, Dr. Mecit Barlas Children’s Library is the first library opened by the Metropolitan Municipality within a hospital. Serving children aged 0–12, the library operates on a membership basis. It has a collection of more than 15,000 children’s and parenting books, with up to three books available for borrowing for a period of 15 days. The library also features a reading corner, a mind and intelligence activities area, and a storytelling corner. During hospital visits, children can spend time with books and participate in activities, and the facility welcomes hundreds of visitors every week. By making books and libraries more accessible at every point, the Metropolitan Municipality continues to add new libraries to its network to foster a love of reading among children.
