Historical Site
Nizip district is located in the city centre. It is thought that the church, which is not known exactly when and by whom it was built, was constructed during the Byzantine period. The church, which was used as a warehouse and an inn for a while in the past, is not used today.
Nizip Fevkani Church is a historical church located in Gaziantep’s Nizip district; although the exact construction date is not known, it is believed to date back to the Byzantine period. It is notable for its rectangular plan structure made of rubble stone and its semi-circular apse; it was also used as a mosque in the 1800s and is currently undergoing restoration.
