Mosque
It is the mosque of the most important complex in Gaziantep, consisting of a mosque, lodge, bath, and madrasa. The founder of the mosque, Sheikh Fethullah, is a revered and miraculous figure who descends from the lineage of Caliph Hz. Abu Bakr. It was built in the year 971 Hijri. The harim has a covering system that rests on an octagonal stone pillar and opens with fan-shaped vaults, connected to hanging arches. This type of covering system has not been seen in any mosque other than Sheikh Fethullah Mosque. The portal, mihrab, pulpit, and window frames of the mosque exhibit the influences of Mamluk art in terms of colorful stone craftsmanship. Sheikh Fethullah's Tomb is located in the open grave in the cemetery on the south side of the mosque. The cemetery where the tomb is located is called 'Şıh Ocağı'.
The Sheikh Fethullah Mosque and Complex, built by Sheikh Fethullah in 1564 in the Kepenek neighborhood, is a unique centrally planned structure with its octagonal stone pillar and fan vaults, blending Mamluk and Ottoman artistic styles in its stone craftsmanship, featuring a single-balcony minaret and housing the grave of Karayılan, making it an architecturally and spiritually unique and remarkable place of worship in Gaziantep.
