We start our route from Gaziantep Kalesi, the symbol of the city. This castle, used since the Hittite period, majestically rises at the highest point of the city. When you touch the massive stone walls of the castle, you will feel the weight of thousands of years at your fingertips. The panorama adorned with Gaziantep's red-roofed houses from the top of the inner castle will mesmerize you. The castle illuminated by the first rays of the sun in the early morning offers a unique opportunity for photography enthusiasts.
Descending from the castle, we move on to Panorama 25 Aralık Gaziantep Savunması Kahramanlık Panoraması ve Müzesi. This is a modern museum that brings the defense of Antep to life with a 360-degree panoramic projection. This museum, which showcases not only armed struggle but also the city's civil resistance, takes its visitors on an emotional journey. You will feel as if you are in the midst of those days in front of the massive panoramic paintings of battle scenes. Be sure to taste Antep Beyranı during lunch; this traditional soup made with lamb and rice will elevate your morning energy.
In the afternoon, we walk to Şahinbey Millî Mücadele Müzesi. This museum documents the heroic resistance of the young hero Şahinbey and the people of Antep against the British and French occupation. Interactive exhibitions display the weapons, clothing, and documents of the period. Here, you can take a break with Gaziantep İçli Köftesi; the taste of the spicy filling hidden inside the fine bulgur shell will leave a lasting impression on your palate.
Our last stop is Kadın Şehitler Anıtı. This monument, erected in memory of six female heroes who lost their lives carrying ammunition during the defense of Antep, is one of the unforgettable symbols of the national struggle. After a minute of silence in front of the monument, you can crown your day with Bülbül Yuvası dessert. The combination of crushed pistachios and syrup between thin layers of pastry will be a sweet conclusion to a tiring but meaningful day.
