When Gaziantep is mentioned, kebab and baklava usually come to mind, but the city also hosts a rich natural diversity. We start the day at Gaziantep Doğal Yaşam Parkı (Hayvanat Bahçesi). This giant park, covering over 1000 acres, provides natural habitats for more than 300 species of animals. From the moment you encounter the majesty of African elephants to the instant you lock eyes with the sharp gaze of Siberian tigers, a different adventure awaits you at every corner. As you walk along the park's well-maintained paths, the cheerful laughter of children intertwines with the astonished expressions of adults.
Right next to the park, Gaziantep Zooloji ve Doğa Müzesi is ideal for those who want to explore the delicate world of nature indoors. Taxidermy specimens, fossil collections, and interactive nature exhibits dramatically convey the importance of biodiversity to visitors. As you exit, your stomach will start to rumble; the aroma of spiced minced meat sizzling on the thin dough of Gaziantep Lahmacunu will draw you to a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, we head to Burç Tabiat Parkı, one of the lungs of the city. This peaceful park, covered with pine forests, is known for its picnic areas and walking trails. You can take a nature walk accompanied by the sounds of birds and cool off in the shaded areas. The panoramic view of the city and the plains from the high points of the park will enchant you. You can refresh your energy with the Gaziantep Nohut Dürümü you brought along.
Our final stop is Botanik Bahçe. This garden offers a wide collection ranging from the plant diversity of the Mediterranean climate to the drought-resistant flora of the steppes, making it both a visual feast and an educational experience. On the path that stretches from lavender fields to seasonal flower greenhouses, you will be amazed by the richness of nature's color palette. At the end of the day, you can bid farewell to a nature-filled day with a Gaziantep Menengiç Kahvesi.
